Since 2007, the burning man regional event has been held in Tankwa Karoo and since then has done nothing but astounded its participants. The festival is placed around countless contemporary art pieces that are dropped in a semi-desert environment and allows its festival goers the opportunity to dive head first into the culture and environment they have come so far to see. They can encapsulate themselves in art pieces, music, dancing, crafting and to put simply anything their hearts would desire in this type of setting.
With their theme this year being "X", they have lead many to wonder about the simplicity of it. Could it stand easily for the 10th year of the festival? Or maybe it is attached to the mysteriousness that is the many uses of the term? Whatever it may be, year in and year out, AfrikaBurn events have proven to be more than just a weekend away, but truly an experience for the ages.
Their mission statement simply reads:
"AfrikaBurn is a participant-created movement, an experiment in inclusive community building, decommodification, creativity, self-reliance and radical self-expression. It is a chance to invent the world anew,"
